These directions may seem complicated but in reality the process is straightforward and simple. It may take a few tries before you are successful but fear not you cannot hurt anything by making a mistake. If you have problems don't hesitate to call me and I will try and walk you through the steps. You will probably do best to print these instructions and have them at your side the first couple of times you download the PBN or PPL file. Once imported into Bridge Baron you may replay the hands as often as you wish. Good Luck!
| 1. | Select the appropriate game tab on the menu bar and select the game file from the drop down menu that you wish to download. Select the file by left clicking on your mouse. |
| 2. | On the page containing the Game File you will see a button link to download the PBN file if a file is available for that game, left click on the link. |
| 3. | A File Download box will appear asking you if you wish to save or run the file. These files are self extracting so you may click on "run". |
| 4. | Another dialogue box will appear asking if you trust the sender, once again click on "run". These files are virus free and cannot harm your computer. |
| 5. | Another dialogue box (Winzip Self Extractor) will appear that gives you the opportunity to specify where you would like to save the file using the Browse function. I recommend that the file be saved to a floppy if you have an A:\ drive or to a zip drive. Another practicable location would be in a folder you create on your hard drive labeled "PBN" which you can easily navigate to as that will be required once inside the Bridge Baron Program. You will have to make a new folder outside of the extraction program as the program does not allow you to add a new folder. Finally click on unzip at the top of the dialogue box and the file will automatically unzip and be stored where you specified. You can now click on "OK" and then "Close" to exit the unzip utility. |
| 6. | The appropriate PBN file will now be downloaded either onto a floppy disc, zip drive or into a folder on your c:\ drive that you have named PBN. Now open Bridge Baron. |
| 7. | From the main screen click on "Tools" |
| 8. | Three more buttons will appear and you will want to click on "Deal Library". |
| 9. | The "Person Play Library" box will now appear and you will click on the top selection "Retrieve Deal from Library File". |
| 10. | Another dialogue box will open, that by default lists the saved deals in a folder called "My Saved Deals" which will not be the folder where our PBN files reside. Use the drop down arrow associated with the "Look in " box to navigate to where you have saved the PBN or PPL file. Once you have successfully navigated to where the pbn or ppl files are located make sure that the box "Files of Type" reflects the proper file format. The "Files of Type" will default to Baron PPL (*.ppl), change that to PBN Files (*.pbn) unless the file in question is a PPL file, and then click on "Open". |
| 11. | The dialogue box will populate with the contents of the folder, double click on the appropriate file and you are ready to play. |
