MARATHON BRIDGE
Marathon Bridge involves
one pair hosting another pair to play 24 hands of Bridge each month
September through May. The total scores are turned in to a central
location where a running score is kept until the Marathon is over.
In June 2012 everyone will attend an event for the presentation of
prizes. This format has been very popular, and we continue to
grow. If you or someone you know might be interested next
year, please call Danny Phillips @ 235-9338.
The rules are simple.
Set a time with your opponents and play bridge. Last year we
provided instant score cards which will give you the appropriate
score for every bid you play. Hupefully
the new pairs will play with someone who has the card. Simply look
up the bid and if you made more or less you will find the
appropriate score that will be what you enter on your score sheets.
We do not count Honors. We will play Chicago
style to establish vulnerability. To prevent anyone from
feeling the cards ran the other way all day we switch corner seats
after 12 hands. Send the signed and dated score sheet to me via
snail mail, e-mail to
Bridgeldy10@sc.rr.com or drop off to my newspaper box@ 887
Tradition Club Drive, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. Also a copy
for your own records or a running total is a good idea as I am not
perfect. (Some have said).
Score sheets and copies of the
Sections are provided at
pawleysislandbridgeclub.com
Generally no table talk
(concerning your cards) is permitted after bidding has started.
Leads and bids out of turn or revokes are penalized according to
ACBL rules. Check with me or e-mail address
pawleysislandbridgeclub.com if
you are uncertain as to the rules. Our info is linked at the top
under Marathon We have
agreed no one can be considered for the competition if you forfeit
more than once so please try to play your dates early; call your
hostess if you have problems, trips or catastrophes etc... Our
Sections are not full so you will have a by
or two. Use the sub list and get those dates played: everyone joins
hoping to play with you before the year is over so try to
accommodate if possible.
Schedule of Play
